Join us for the closing weekend of Poetic Imagination in Japanese Art and the final Japanese Poetry, Art and Culture Weekend!
Spark your own poetic imagination by going deeper into some of the themes, materials, and creative processes represented in the exhibition. Featuring a variety of calligraphy and ikebana demonstrations, music performances, poetry reading and writing opportunities, artmaking, and even the chance to sample Japanese small bites and sweets from local makers.
On Friday admission is just $5 after 5pm, which is when the activities get going.
Friday, January 11, 5–8 p.m.

— Youth Poetry Reading (6-7:30 p.m.)
Our Friday evening program takes place in the beautiful Schnitzer Sculpture Court located just inside the Museum’s main entrance where there is plenty of seating and we encourage you to eat, drink, and relax. Oyatsupan baked treats and full saké servings are available for purchase in Museum Grounds café.
Saturday, January 12, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
— Tea tasting with Jugetsudo USA (11-3pm)
— Self-guided poetry writing with Write Around Portland (11-3pm)
— Ikebana demonstration with Ikebana Portland Chapter 47 (11 — noon)
— Origami demonstration and art making with Yuki Origami (Noon — 3pm)
— Calligraphy performance with Sora Shodo (1 — 2pm)
— Docent tour of Poetic Imagination (3pm)
